Stolen Website

Hi all, some of you may know I had a TV site, vintagetvsets.com I got tired of it and let the domain name lapse, someone apparently bought it, not a problem I didn't want it anymore, what might be a problem is they kept it online with all my content.

I have no idea what they intend, nefarious or not, so I would ask if any of you have links to this site on your site or in your Browser, please delete them.

I dont see how they could??

You let it expire, the contents on that computer should have been deleted!!

Are ya sure Eric they didnt me$$ up or something and just put it back up??

Can you still access it??

Eric.Your content is still on there .That means they are violating your content copyright of the info you put up on the site. .

Even though time lapsed with the provider I would look into that if I was you..

This may not be what you want to hear, but I find it refreshing that the pirates kept the site up. A number of radio clubs in my region let their sites lapse and all the info there is gone and has been replaced with weird ads. It's annoying having to go to the wayback machine to dig for info you want from a recently defunct site.

I dont think they did..... His email address is still there even!!!

I think they accidently put it back up!! (Probably wont last long)

Your site looks g00d Eric!!!

They can easily copy an image of it off the wayback machine and make it live. The early television museum took site images of the websites of 2 diseased CT-100 collectors and hosted them through their own site to preserve the sites after their owners passed away.

There's a world of tech stuff out there you have never heard of and probably never will.

Yes but they wouldnt have Erics email address listed if someone else copied it!!

I think its a mistake......... (The people he stopped paying dont realise its back up)

If they took an image of the site and didn't bother to edit it his email address would still be present same as it was before.
If they leave it be there's a chance someone will contact Eric and he'll track them down then they can hold ownership of it for ransom...also most of these domain claim jumpers have no interest in actively maintaining a site, recieveing email from guests of the site, or maintaining any privacy of the previous owner so there's no reason for them to edit it....those kinda people only care about making ads work on the site so they can claim passive income from it, and the possibility of selling the ownership of the domain to someone for big bucks.

Hmmmm maybe I dont understand.......
