Grundig SO-305 need repair advice please

Hey all, I've just joined to see if I can get a recommendation on service for my very clean original SO-305.

It lights up, passes sound and functions but the tuner is stuck in one position. I really just want to get the tuner working so I can listen to radio.

I'm located on the South Coast of MA between Boston and Providence, looking for someone willing to service this.

Short of that I will have to try and DIY.

Any help appreciated.

Looks like my old SO-205U (haven't seen that since I was 12) ...If the dial strings are on the failure is probably the clutch that switches the knob between AM and FM dial operation. The clutch material fails and there's no direct replacement parts. One of our Canadian members who's name escapes me came up with a solution involving IIRC gluing sandpaper to the clutch plates...The thread about that is on this site if you poke around.

Thanks, I can reach in and physically move the dial. The string is under tension, so it's not that. Probably the clutch as you say. I'll try and attach a quick video. The unit sounds and looks amazing, just wish I could change the station without sticking my hand in the back.

Thanks, if it comes to it I may give that a shot. Still would prefer to find a local tech.

Yeah you shouldn't even need glue. Just add one and see if it stops slipping and add another if it continues.

Turning the dial on the front just spins, doesn't engage the tuner at all. Is this the same symptom you had?
