1N60 Video Detector Diode Substitute
I have some cheap ones but I'm wondering if there's a better type I could install in an RCA KCS92 video circuit?
|
If the original was a 1N60, then replacing it with one should be fine - no improvment needed.

I have had good results with BAT41 diodes. Low turn on current without the leakage of the germanium. A 1n5711 may also be a good choice but is rated for considerably less voltage and current.

How about a 1N34? I have a bunch of them too.

Beware of all the counterfeit 1n60 flooding the market. :tears:
Getting harder and harder to tell the real from fake, and the 1n60p (Schottky), not quite the same, is it? |

Normally I rescue every Ge diode and important parts from old irreparable equipment, so I have a little but important stock of certain key parts...
Just for the fear of counterfeit, and for using same device type/class. |
lots still out there to pick from, like the HEP135 or the NTE109

I believe someone used those Schottky diodes in my Zenith 27KC20 as the video detector and sound/sync detector diodes. I was never able to get the proper response from the third IF stage during alignment. I robbed a couple of diodes from an RCA parts chassis, put those in, and got the correct response without problems.
