Rabbit ears antenna
 
If using rabbit ears and the pic is not the greatest and after fine tuning still not the greatest but if I touch one of the antennas it becomes clear is this to many dbs or not enough signal.

It's a bit more complicated than that, yes, RF signal power does play a key roll in it, but so does the length of the antenna in relation to the channel being tuned, and it's better to adjust to get best results.
