Where can I get incandescent light bulbs?
 

When I first moved here I still had a big box of 60 watt bulbs I had bought at a St. Vincent De Paul thrift store in Wisconsin that I moved here with me, and they were still selling them at a local Ace hardware. Then, for the past two years or so I've mostly been buying them on eBay, now I don't even see many there - I'm just seeing Christmas lights, reproduction antique bulbs, and appliance bulbs - and other assorted bulbs of unusual shapes and colors.

There's no way these are scarce, if I can still get vacuum tubes no problem, there must be millions of these, it's just a question of where. I do want lights to match my old fixtures, but the new led bulbs also give me headaches, really bad migraine headaches, especially the super white ones. If I have to, I'll light my whole house with Christmas lights and appliance bulbs, but ordinary light bulbs must be available somewhere - But then, I'm stocking up on candles before I use those headache inducing led bulbs.

I can luckily get 200Watt reg bulbs at Shoprite! (They are not LED)


A got a whole bag full of them and when it gets empty Ill go get more............

I also hate the incomplete/bad distributed light spectrum of newer lamps, including most warm LED's (seems a puke color for most of ones).

Nowadays here in Brazil only halogen are currently sell (EDIT: of the regular houselight incandescent ones, and are vanishing), and at least is possible to found easily lamps for ovens. These obviously needs to be incandescent. Here ovens uses socket from same type from the house ones, E27. Exception is smaller ovens with smaller sockets.

+1 on all the dislike of the effecient bulbs...on top of all that most tend to emit RFI that ruins radio and sometimes even TV reception.

For the most part incandescents between 40W and 200W vanished a year or two ago in fall with some bill or executive order Brandon signed(er um auto penned).... Supposedly it's been nixed this year but I've yet to see my normal watrage daylight incandescents return.

Right now I can still get 200-300W regular bulbs at Ace hardware and Menards...I can typically also find appliance bulbs (either regular base small envelope or C9 or C7 base miniatures...I think I even saw a 60W mini somewhere). A few months ago AutoZone was selling 75W soft white rough duty bulbs...I should check if there's more.
Once in a while I'll be in a rural grocery store that still has stock or get lucky at a thrift...A month or two after they got banned the Pewaukee St Vinny's had a crate worth of cartons of Chinese incandescents cheap and I stocked up.

I still have probably several months' supply. I have a few of the ordinary white 60 watters, a lot of these clear 60 watt ones, some 25's, and a few of the 40 watt clear appliance bulbs with the regular base. I'm out of regular 40's and all 100's which is why I was looking last night, I had a case of those heavy duty 130V 100's which I just used up. I knew they stopped making them, but had assumed because I could buy a few packs or a even a big case of 40, 60, 100 watt bulbs on ebay for a reasonable price that it would stay that way, but no more. I wish I had stocked up more than I did.

When the Ace was selling them they had these weird Chinese made bulbs labeled Westinghouse of all things. They only had 25 and 100 watt, and they seemed a little dimmer than they should have been (mainly the 100's), but they lasted - I still have some of the 25's in a bathroom that I put in over 3 years ago.

I just ran out too. Used to get them from internet stores. A bunch had them. Look for lamp repair places. Sold as heavy service bulbs IIRC.
Hoping when Trump is done with the smog rules he will get our real lights back !

Not tons, but enough. But most are E27, they didn't had too much with E14.

Tower & traffic light bulbs are still available. They're 116 watt 90 watt and I've seen 53 watt all with medium Edison bases

I have some of those they are clear glass.they r more durable

The 116 watt and 135 watt lamps slightly larger A-21 (versus A19) envelope, brass base shells and 7000 hours! Most of the older traffic lamps were 105 w @ 130 volts, rated 4000 hrs.

I still use MR16 halogen as kitchen lights, on much of the time, they last for several years each, powered by a 60 cy 12V 250 VA control power transformer.
