Is it manufactored in Wolfenbuettel, eight kilometers away from my home here in Brunswick. A "Kuba Museum" is established by the Streiff Holding Gmbh & Co.KG, but open for the public only some days in year:

I grew up with the Konzerttruhe Riva, don't know how many hours I listened to it as a kid, knew it was a Kuba but had no idea what model it was.

Now, it WOULD be something if it was a roundie color set....That guy is just TOO outre' for my provincial tastes. 75 hunnert smackers is a bit optomistic, too, I believe. I remember there was one of these on ebay about a year or so ago. Don't recall where it was at, but, I do remember that the auction was ended early for some reason.

Interesting that the TV and radio chassis seem, from the specs, to be rather low quality. 11 tubes in the TV chassis, 8 in the radio, 5 watts per channel audio output to drive 8 speakers.

Yes it is. Kuba was specialized in building nice wooden cabinets etc., but not in creating progressive modern technology. The Saba's, Telefunken's and Grundig's were much better. You can see that too in the fact, that Kuba was one of the only factories, which had a joint venture with General Electrics to built the simple and low quality Porta-color (with European tubes and American crt and flyback. The first Kuba color tv set had multi-layer solid copper circuits like have today on PC motherboards. This seems to be very progressive in the 1960s. But they drived the multi-layer circuits with high voltage currents, and they very often burned out.
I don't want to have a Kuba Komet, even if I had the place to store it.

There used to be one of these on display at the St. Louis Science Center's Planetarium. It was part of an exhibit of '50s and '60s space age memoribilia. I don't know if it's still there or not. Mike Drown? Marlin? Do you guys know?

I am from St. Louis and I do remember that TV. The guts were taken out and a color TV chassis was put in its place. It was part of a Sci-fi display showing clips of Space 1999.

The set was bought by the Early television Foundation. I saw it on their web page.
