Andy:

I just finished an IF alignment on a CTC-5. I used a B&K 415 sweep/marker generator. I too had a scope trace that was just one peak and it turned out that the alignment was that far off. It seems strange that your set would be that far off though as most are not. It may sound obvious but did you try subbing the tuner tubes? Cable signals tend to overload the video and should not result in a snowy picture. Before doing any adjustment on the IFs I would try to focus on the tuner, perhaps sub it if you have a tuner subber.

You have a CTC-15 chassis. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your set may have been the victim of an idiot with a "diddle stick" who attempted to fix his tv. Let's hope this isn't the case. Back when these sets were plentiful, I would compare the relative (slug) height of the suspected coil with that of a known good one. If your other attempts fail, maybe you can find someone with a '15 chassis and do some comparison. Good luck! :thmbsp:

You might want to try and find another IF board from a "junker".
