ADMIRAL ROYAL 300 or 600 ?

Does anyone know what an ADMIRAL ROYAL 300 (or 600) 21" Color TV is? That is, what year or a model number? I have a lead on one, and want to know if it is worth saving.

Admiral "Royal 600"

Hey John,

The Admiral "Royal 600" series chassis is from the 1956-57 21" color sets. These included: "The President 21" model and "The Patrician 21" model, "The Barcelona 21" and "The Ambassador 21". There was a "Royal 600" script located on the lower right of the cabinet below the screen. Prices ranged from $699.95 - $829.95.

Admiral also offered an entry level model "The Regent 21" starting at $499.95. This model did not have the Royal 600 designation on the cabinet.

Steve,

Thanks very much for the info. I was hoping it was an earlier set. I am hot on the trail, and I will provide updates as I close in on my quary.

Some of the other models in that series are here:

Do these sets use RCA's dumbed down CTC4 based chassis, or did Admiral design their own?

I do have some service info from that era which you're welcome to borrow if you need it. Admiral didn't put the names on the manuals, just the model/chassis numbers.

Borrowed CTC-4 Chassis

Bryan, thanks for the offer for the service info. It may come in handy if I get the Admiral et.

And as far as I know, the Admiral 1954 set and the 1958 "Royal 600" series sets were unuque Admiral designs, not "borrowed" RCA chassis, like the CTC-4 chassis used in the Stromberg-Carlson Model 102CM 21" set. This set is on my "to-do" list. It operated briefly when I first got it, then quit. But it needs to be fully re-capped and restored.

John, good luck on your lead. And most important, hope you find it with a good CRT! Looks like this Royal 600 would be a really nice find for a collector. Admiral color sets such as this don't pop up very often!
