I will do ANYTHING for an early RCA color...

Guys, I'd absolutely love to own an early RCA color set, preferably one that needs restoration. I've seemed to missed all the sets on ebay, and I'm ready to rip my hair out because I cannot find one. I love the look of the round 21AXP22. If anyone is crazy enough to part with one, please please let me know. I plan on putting a restoration log on my site and sharing my experiences with everyone. I'm in the process of bringing back to life an Air King A1000 (RCA 630TS clone).

Thanks.

Jonathan

Jonathan,

Stuff like that surfaces occasionally. I like to keep an eye out for things I might not be interested in picking up for myself but that I know other collectors are looking for. Your profile doesn't indicate where you are. For gawdoffal heavy stuff like color TVs, except for the really valuable ones, shipping is frequently a deal-breaker, so local contacts are usually the most successful. I'll be happy to pick something up for you and pass it along at cost, and even hold it for a little while till we can meet up, but I won't lay out any significant chunk of money on something unless I KNOW someone wants it. So I'd need a cell phone number to be able to verify your interest on a specific item before I would take action on any unexpected finds.

BTW, that goes for anyone on this list. Send me your want list and if it doesn't conflict with mine, if I find something you're looking for, I'll grab it for you. We do this all the time in our local club and it works well, helps greatly to keep "marginal" collectibles (like TVs, which sadly still end up going to the dump around all the time around here), and helps keep the ol' garage from getting too empty!

Hello Dave,

Sorry, I updated my profile now. I'm probably a few hours drive away from you. I will pay significant money for one of these sets. I'm looking for one with a decent CRT, but one that needs restoration/alignment/etc. I'd really like a CTC5 or CTC7, but anything will do. I'm really only looking for one, since space is an issue too. Should I private message you with my information?

Thanks.

Jonathan

One thing you have going for you is there seem to be a lot of desirable sets in your area. That part of the country had tv/color tv relatively early. 2 of my color roundies came from the north end of Philly. Keep your eyes open, check ebay a couple times a week. Prices are all over the place, you shouldn't need to overpay.

I'm still kicking myself for taking the two cute but worthless B&W sets given to me by a TV repairman clearing out his storage but turning down the CTC-5 he offered to me for the outrageous sum of $50! ('Course in my defense I must point out that this happened more than a few years ago.) But the good news (and the bad news) is that this kind of stuff still turns up curbside every once in a while.

Here is your chance: an early color tv roundie is offered on ebay, item number 6179316050, for local pickup only in North Hills, California. Are you able to win it and to pick it up?

I want one just as bad::(ctc5, I will soon have a LATE ctc7, w/good crt) AND--- I would be willing to trade some things to get one:; such as:; (2) 66 model Zenith roundies AND a 25" Zenith, 71 or 68 model,(I have both) OR a 19" 68 model Zenith, and two 66 roundies, and MAYBE a 15yc615 Zenith 15" ,...(all sets color...) OR-- a 9090(non-db, but working and complete), and a realistic sta2000, 2300, and pioneer sx-626, and so on. The ctc-5 does NOT need to be restored, BUT does need to have a good CRT, fly, Power tranny and major parts, and in a reasonable cabinet!!

Thanks guys! This guy says local pickup only, but hopefully he'll give in....
