Curtis Mathis VCR
 

Hi All,

I saw a Curtis Mathis VHS VCR today at the Thrift Store. It's a top loader and had the wired remote pause switch with it. It looks like new. Are these worth anything? If anyone is intereste, I can try to get out there again. I almost bought it, but I already had a couple of things and my wife was with me.

Allow me to be the first to point this out.....VCR's aren't exactly "Early Color TV's" you silly goose, you put this in the wrong category! :lmao: Perhaps a moderator can move it where it'll be read by more people and get you a real response.

Well, I couldn't really figure out where to post it. It's not really a swap post since I don't actually have it. I just figured if someone was interested in it, this is where they would likely hang out. I don't know if it's anything anyone would collect or if it's just junk. Anyhow, if anyone wants it, let me know.

Forty lashes with a wet noodle say I! Actually, I highly doubt that C-M had anything to do with the design of this (and certainly nothing to do with building it) other than to specify the style and where the nameplate was slapped on.

By this late a date, C-M mostly was into cable boxes more than anything else. Am curious as to who actually made this for them, it may actually be a decent machine.....a lot of those early top loaders seem to last a long time. While their picture and sound quality may be lacking (and they don't have all the bells and whistles of today's units) these old steam powered models are built like battleships and weigh nearly as much.

My first VCR was a RCA from around '84 also with a wired remote (which was a big deal at the time). IIRC it was close to $500....today you can get a deck with all sorts of features not even dreamt of then for less than $75!! My butthole is still sore.

Well, I'm no expert on these things, but we had a Panasonic VCR when I was a kid and it looked exactly like this CM.
