Nice!

That's the RCA CTC-5 "Lockhaven" Super series model with the limed oak finish. Nice example. And the owner's manual and hang tag are a great bonus. Go for it Polaraman.

Catalog picture of it in Mahogany with model features and dimensions in the CTC-5 section of my site.

I put in a bid on it. I do not know if the shrill bidder on the Zenith roundie will show up. I do not have an early color set in my collection. I have an empty CTC 5 Wingate cabinet. I will see how it goes. The seller is willing to ship.

Another set in Omaha??? What the hell?? Don't worry Rich, I will NOT bid against you on this. However you need to come to Omaha and get it, so you can pick up some of MY stuff! LOL!! As for the seller... I'm sure he's on the "up and up" as I'm certain it's the dude who collects washers and the one who came across the early remote set that he had in another posting here.

Sorry, but I want it too. But I most likely will NOT end up getting it. I have wanted a '5 for a loooonnnngggg time now.

Yup, the seller's a Good Guy.

Damn, was this set ever even turned ON once?? What a beaut...

Is this the same model that's at Graceland?

Hey guys, the RCA is my find from the weekend. I have 30+ major appliances on the property in addition to the RCA I brought home a couple of weeks ago that I'm keeping so I have to make some choices. Maybe I should throw in a vintage Maytag with the TV! If you have any questions about the set, email me for quickest response - 65 washer fans coming in this week for a convention so I won't be online a lot.

Take care everyone - Greg

I have to say, these early color roundies are beautiful sets. And this is a fine example of beauty.

Although the cabinet is in good condition, it doesn't impress me all that much as operation of the set. I know a lady at work who has a 20s-30s console AM and shortwave radio. She keeps the cabinet immaculate, but the radio doesn't work (probably needs a recapping and it'll be up and running in no time) Don't get me wrong though, I definately want a nice cabinet, but I want picture perfect operation from the set, whether radio or TV. I have an RCA 95T5 tabletop prewar AM radio and the chassis looks beautiful, and the radio sounds better than any modern AM radio I've ever used, since I've restored it. I still have to refinish the cabinet.

I hope this set gets a loving home and a loving restorer that gets this set operating as good as it looks.

Me want.

The wooden case is in very good shape. I must check if inside looks good to!

I think the buyer bought from me before. They use old TV's for movies. He bought a 1972 silvertone in mint working condition. It was supposed to be used in some movie about nixon and watergate. I did ship it to some studio in hollywood. I then got an email offering me back the chassis as they had to "improve it" with a new TV in its cabinet. Hopefully this set doest get hacked up with a trinitron.

BTW, its rather ironic that this set sold for exactly the same amount as that zenith roundie in Iowa!

They would be really STUPID to part this set!
