This seems to be Captain Moody's flavor of television. Looks to be a Zenith hospital? TV. Look at the stand that it is on! Cptn it is in your state of Mich!

It could have been used in a grammar school classroom to show an educational channel show (ancester of PBS). See near the bottom of my TV page: http://www.geocities.com/wa2ise/radios/tv.html and if geocities will let you http://www.geocities.com/wa2ise/radios/classtv.jpg to see a 1960's era B&W TV on a tall stand in the back! of the classroom of my grammar school.

I have that same set (with a bad CRT)
The one in the auction has had the antennas, stand and cord winding posts added on to make it a "Hospital" set.

Whoops, mine has a different handle and a "Wavemagnet" knob on top.

Hospix

On the antenna unit it reads: "HOSPIX". Could it have been a model made for hospitals? I bet that set-up is as rare as they come. Definately worth preserving as a complete assembly of stand and TV.

I have this cute TV which is branded a HOSPIX. It is the same chassis as the ARVIN 4080T. I got this set from Bill Cahill, who says it came from the Detroit area. What do you guys know about the HOSPIX brand naem? What items did they make or sell?

That IS a cute TV! Shame stuff today looks like they were designed and built by robots. Oh, right...I forgot...they are...

John, and guys, Hospix never made their own stuff. They sold tv's to hospitals in Detroit, and perhaps, other areas. Different mannufacturers made them for them. The one on e-bay would surely be rare. Value? Don't know. But, very rare. The ones made by Arvin in 40's are more common, and they are rare. More Arvins were sold than Hospix.

Bill

" And, now I want to tell you about a new brand of corn... Hey, Charlie! Where's the can!??"
