What is First Zenith roundie Model # in 1962

Can anyone tell me Zenith's first color roundie set in(29JC20?) 1962 after they field tested in 54/55?? I guess they waited til Color TVs starting becoming popular to invest in it. Does anyone have this TV with pics to post please. Is this set Danish style??

Notice that big tranny, and the 2 3dg4 LV rect. tubes:

Wish I had kept one I had! It was a cheap masonite cabinet with screw-in legs. It was PROBABLY a 29JC20, since it had the 2 LV tubes. Wanna hear the silly reason I threw it out? It was missing the 3DG4's and I didn't want to pay $5 each at Henry Radio for a round color TV! But then again, my defense for doing that is that it was in '79 or '80.

I also knew of 2 others with more elaborate cabinets. If I'm not mistaken, you can spot the 3DG4 model a mile away with that old style VHF tuner knob. I think in '63 the style changed on that knob. One of the other 29JC20s might still be where I last saw it, but probably not available. It was in the livingroom of the house where we used to go and vote a few blocks away in West LA. If I happen to be down there on a voting day, I will go there and see if they still have the polls there, and if the Zenith is still there!

Here's a picture of the front of the set. After sitting in the garage for a year, I sold it a few months back to a friend who wanted to start collecting color sets.

There's something about solid wood and vintage color tv that says quality and class...

29jc20

I have a restored 29jc20 with good crt, and then, the flyback went south.

won't the flyback I have work? I got confused to some of the replies I got on it, but let me know if ot is indeed the one that will work. PM or e-mail me.

Thanks for the info and pics. The design is very clean and modern, beautiful!!
:D :thmbsp:
Good to see AKers preserving and restoring these American greats, I was hoping for at least one response. That tri colored emblem to signal color set is great- looks slightly similiar to tri color badge used for Very early Motorola TV. Seem popular among collectors, again, isn't ANYTHING Zenith popular?

I don't have the luxury of an "R.C.A.".
