Anyone know what kind of TV this is? I know I should actually fix all the TVs I just got before I get more but I can't resist. I just saw this on the LA craigslist, and sent the guy an e-mail that I was interested. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/clt/140560632.html

The screen looks a bit yellow, could it be one of those Hoffmans? But it looks like two words written below the screen there, but then the top one might be Hoffman?

More TVs on LA craigslist, that I am resisting. I really don't have the space for more of these big consoles.

That's a Hoffman. Not sure of the model, maybe a 612 or similar.
It says "Easy Vision Lens" on the brass plate.

I e-mailed this guy twice both times he just sent back a message saying he would send back another message later. The second message was just entitled "auto-reply", and neither message said anything about the TV. I'm beginning to wonder if there even is a TV. Anyway, I think they're might be something weird going on so I've just decided not to deal with it at all anymore and forget I ever saw it. I have 32 TVs, 7 of which need fixing, which should keep me busy at least through the summer.

And that's a nice TV up there, the first table top set I've ever seen with doors.

Today, I finally got a reply from this guy, almost as if in response to this post here. Is this anybody here? If it is please send me a message here and we can work something out. If not, what do you all here with more experience buying TVs in odd situations think I should do, am I just being paranoid in thinking something weird is going on?, its nearby so I should be able to see it before I buy it (after this I wouldn't even consider not doing so), and I don't think he was asking way too much for it. But I just get a weird feeling about these e-mails, the first one said "contact you later this weekend" and nothing else. Then he didn't. When I e-mailed him Monday I got that weird "auto-reply" e-mail. Then today I got an e-mail that just says the word "sure" and nothing else. Then finally a normal reply asking me to call him about the TV later today. I seriously think I might just delete these e-mails and let this one go.

Take a friend along when you go to pick up the TV. A second pair of eyes and ears in case anything wierd might try to happen, and there being two of you should reduce that possibility anyway.

What wa2ise said is good advice.

Probably nothing to worry about, guy might be elderly, eccentric, or just plain strange. (Most TV collectors seem to fall into those last two categories!) :D

Some E-mail services have an auto response, just to let you know they got your message.

Listing an old TV would be an odd way to set someone up for a robbery, most TV collectors are also broke! :yes:

Thanks for the advice, actually the guy turned out to be nice, I don't know what those random e-mails were about. The TV's a Hoffman 610. It's missing some tubes, the CRT is a bit weak, but I left it on at 7 volts for about 3 min, and it almost made it out of the 'bad' portion of the meter, so I'm not too concerned.
