What's this guy smoking; I want some! (RCA "working" TV eBay)

I just looked at this RCA, which has a full vertical collapse in the photos. Seller says "FULLY WORKING"!

WOW: Now I know my Zenith roundie works great too. No picture due to air in CRT, but it works great because the channel indicator light comes on! :smoke:

I don't see any problem with the picture.Don't you recognize the "Super Cinerama" aspect ratio of 900:1 ?

Must be one of those sellers who lives so far away from all TV stations that all he can receive is a white line. :-)

Maybe he's watching The Outer Limits and the camera just happened to catch it at the right moment in the titles.

Dont forget the other possibilities. Could be too much dust inside the TV or maybe he's in a "metal building". These are the one liners that prevent you from bargaining at an estate sale when you find a TV that doesnt work. Yes, "Needs a good antenna" is the classic excuse why a TV doesnt work.

I know this isn't the thread for this, but I'm just wondering if a Zenith 14M28 is worth anything. I found one in an old house, and it's not in working condition, though the tubes all glow when it's plugged in and turned on. There's no sound or picture, though.
So, I have two questions:
1. Is it worth anything?
2. Would it be expensive to fix if the tube wasn't shot?

I see these types of auctions all the time on ebay, just becuase it does something means its in working condition....but my favorate ones are the sellers who say they have never plugged it in (yeah right)..in my opinion they know it doesnt work, but of course they're trying to sell you something..so they dont want you to know its a piece of crap!

I like the missing the cord so we can't plug it in. I always feel they tried it and it didn't work so they removed the cord that way they could say they had no way to test it. Anybody that plugs in old electronics without knowing what they are doing can get hurt and damage the equipment. Nobody would run a crt like that past the I don't have vert got to fix that and make sure I don't burn the tube.
