Disentegrating yoke plastic

I have several 1950s B&W sets that used the plastic that disentigrates after 50 years in the yoke. The yoke itself is ok, but it will not stay tight on the CRT anymore as the plastic has fallen apart. The brands include Zenith, Hoffman, RCA, and Setchell Carlson.

Has any one discovered a way to make a new plastic part for the yoke? This seems to be a common problem for people attempting to restore mid 1950s sets.

I have thought of getting some of the plastic water pipe from Home Depot/Lowes and attempting to glue something together. They carry pipe that can handle hot water, so there is somewhat of a possiblity of the plastic working despite the heat from the CRT and other tubes.

This is a big problem especially when the plastic also holds the centering rings in place.

This is especially bad on the little 8" RCA personal portables, never seen good yoke plastic on one yet.
