I like the motorola and blonde zenith. My admiral has the same cabinet as that one, except mine ha a round screen and different grill cloth. That one is probably from the early 50s. Mine is from 49 or 50

Finally some tvs show up on ebay! Its been bland for awhile! Your right eric, too bad they are all too far away! How come any tv set that Harry poster sells on ebay always gets such big bucks!? :scratch2:

And how about this Stromberg Carlson? Never seen a set with a recofd player which opens on the SIDE of the TV!!

It's got good vertical deflection, don' it?

That phono drawer is so unusual, I'm gonna go out on a limb
and say it was something fashioned by (or for) the owner and not
the way S-C made it.

I believe that Steve McVoy had this model with the built-in 45 rpm player some years ago. I'm not sure that it is still in his museum.

Yes, we have it, but it isn't on display now. The set takes up too much room.

David Roper 08-25-2006 05:46 PM

Research reveals that, although the set came standard with a phono jack only, you could get it with a compartment for a 45 rpm phonograph for an extra $20. Presumably, the phonograph to put into that compartment was extra. Kinda cheesey.

The 45 player on that Stromberg is a correct option as i had a 1949 porthole console with the same attachment on the side of the cabinet, quite unusual and NOT user friendly!
