Another Philco 48-700 on eBay

Another 7" Philco 48-700 on eBay. Pickup only!! The seller states both "ships worldwide" and pickup only in the description. I emailed him and he wants local pickup. This is 3 of these in 3 weeks. I have only seen 5-6 for sale in the last 5 years.

I won one of those sets a couple of weeks ago..on e-bay..
I asked the seller to please remove the picture tube or somehow protect it..
WELL...the set was thrown into a box, with just peanuts,no back, and yes the CRT is smashed..but the set itself did actually survive, just the stain is peeling off,and looks otherwise unmolested..now i wonder if i should wear rubber gloves when i work on it..as i guess the HV current is pretty high..I see some HV type of caps I have never seen before..this should be interesting..I have a heathkit high voltage power supply i was going to sell,as i never use it,but i think ill use it to test/reform the filters..for starters..
I have a 7GP1,and plenty nos 7jp1's but no..p4 screens.. looks like now it will be green screen time,i said i was not going to do vintage TV anymore, but since i still have lots of caps and needed a change from pioneer and sansui stereo's..
I now have HV,and yes I got "BIT"..it was intense..ehh....I am using a 3jp1 as a test crt..i had to replace the socket on this set, funny thing,i saved those NOS ones i had wondering if id ever use them for something other than building CRT based clocks..i ran out of solder.I had thought the front trim was cracked in corners..NO..! it comes apart in 4 parts,i have never seen one up close so i dont know if its the stain flaking of or paint, nice wood under it all though.:).so its time to call it a night..

Sorry about that, that's an awful shame anytime, but especially when it's such a rare tube. Maybe you should institute a rule like: no more TVs that you can't pick up.

Has anyone ever tried putting a red filter in front of their p1 tubes??
