NordMende Elektra C - first tubey for me.

Hey there Everyone,

This is my first post on this forum. That's cause I picked up a little tube tabletop today at an auction. I don't know a thing about these radios or tubes, but thought it might be fun to get into learning about them.

What I got. NordMende Elektra C. 4 bands - BC, SW1, SW2, and FM. It also has a Tape/Phono input, and a separate Speaker output. 2 internal drivers - one midrange oval and one round tweeter. I'm guessing made in early 60's, but not sure.

I plugged it in at home and nothing happened. Hmmm :scratch2: Checked the fuse holder and ......no fuse. Whew. At there is a reason for not working at this point anyways. The fuse specs are really wierd. Can anyone explain what this means? "0,2 mm Cu" or "Heiz-SI.0,2 CU"

I stopped by a great used book store on the way home as well. Picked up a text book called Fundamentals of Electronics by Lurch (1966 printing) and an old 1935 Audels Radiomans Guide, Questions and Answers, Theory and Practise. Just a little bedtime reading :D

Well, .....looking forward to any comments, information, sources of information, tips and tricks, on this little tabletop. It'll be neat to get it working and hear what it sounds like. Also, would anyone have any manuals or schematics?

My digicam is out at the moment but I'll post some pics in a few days.

Another journey begins....tubes. Yeeha.

I searched the obvious place - the European radio site Radiomuseum.org. LOTS of Nordmende "Elektra" models, no "Elektra C"

But I found it in the Smas Photofact index - # 759-11, from 1965. I don't have any this late, but you may be able to get a copy from your library or buy one online.

A 1A fast or 1/2A slo-blo fuse will be about right - Radio Shack has these in the 5 mm size.

Here are a few pics as I said in post above.

That Antenna looks like Sci-Fi stuff.
