1935 Zenith 4-V-31 restoration.

Completed my 6 volt Zenith. Recapped, some new tubes, new wire, speaker and cone repair and refinished cabinet. It pulls in loud and clear with my rigged antenna (see pic and don't laugh it works). Thanks to those that gave advice. I really like the looks of this one and it is all original. Sounds good too. Maybe I will place it on my desk and pretend my old time radio streams are coming through it! It would be a Christmas gift but no one in my family appreciates the old stuff.

Wow...what a purty set !!

That's neat to see that old permanent magnet speaker in action..we have one of those speakers at the shop but I never knew what set it would have been used in.

The speaker is very primitive. It was frozen when I got it and sounded very tinney. After some WD-40 I got the lever free and it sounds great.

Wow!...... I thought you'd finished this one long ago Steve. Have to say a very nice restoration. The cabinet is absolutely gorgous!

...yeah, put me on that list too!

Steve, the Zenith looks great! How bad (good?) was the cabinet? Did you have to find the grill cloth or is that original too? Love the 'Z' pointer and the size...nice enough to display anywhere.

Nolan, the cabinet was minus some varnish but no scratches. I have a few pieces of vintage grill cloth that I salvaged from an old console. I was taken by the z dial also.
