I'd go up and get it, but I already have a bunch of sets I need to take care of and no spare room.

I talked to the owner last night. He is going to dismantle it for me, and ship me as much as my pocket book will take. One way, or another, I intend to save as much of this set as I can. :drool:

Well, here's the news so far. I asked for very good pictures of cabinet, and inside of set. Chassis is restorable.

Now, for the bad news.
Cabinet.

Top, not bad.
Sides: o.k.
Front: Bad news. The doors are photofinnish, meaning, the beutiful grain is fake. The finnish is heavily crazed, and starting to flake off in spots. From a distance, it doesn't look that bad. It's when you get close that you see how much trouble you are in.

I can see enough dammage in the finnnish on bottom front molding finnish to see it has had a rough life.

It appears the worst of the finnish dammage was because it dried out. With as much as I hate to say it, and believe me, for personal reasons, I do hate to say it, this set is better off as a donor.

Strange, but the company put their signature decal on the bottom front molding above the "Power on" light. Usually, it's on top edge. Not on this set, though.

Sad to say there is enough dammage to not make it worth the expense of shipping the case.

I will tell him I want all the inards, knobs, bolts, pieces off the front, and, back cover. I'm getting a junker from Polaraman when he brings my set, so, I will save his junker with parts from this one.

I will then be able to save two out of three sets. If the doors had only been a little better... But, I'm afraid the finish is already falling off. Bad news on pho finnish wood.

:tears: The deal fell through. Last evenning, the son called me to inform me his father refuses to ship the set in any form. He made it clear if I REALLY want it, I can pick it up. That ended the deal. :tears:
