Flash Matic on eBAy

Not mine, complete with owners manual and remote!

The part about the Memphis museum wanting it made me shudder, no doubt they'd gut it and stick a monitor inside.

HEY SANDY!

You have to go and get this one! Don't let some crazy museum gut it!

Granted, cost is a figure, but then again, where are you going to find something like this in Tennessee again?

Pretty sad that we are worried about this going to a museum! I would think they would want to keep it intact as it is only a Flash-Matic with the old chassis in there. Really this is a set that you could run at extended intervals if you didn't mind regular maintenance. It uses a fairly stout chassis & the crt is not particulary rare. To use as a fully working display you would have to have very carefully designed lighting. I know that my Flash-Matic's remote system will just barely work right when I adjust everything just so...then I turn on the lights and KABLOOEY!

Funny, I just saw this TV on the History Channel this morning as part of the history of remotes or something like that.

"donate it to the museum"

I found unbelievable the part of the ad in which the seller said that the "Curators from the museum in Memphis examined this set and requested I donate it to the museum." They wanted a donation! I found it very funny! The guy spended 500 dollars restoring this TV, the TV came with the Flashmatic control and Operating Guide, and they wanted it for free! How arrogant they are. On the other hand, it's better that they didn´t want to buy it, because if they were to gut it....
