Sams 224-14 Stromburg Carlson Classic 21

My HV went out on my Classic 21 Stromburg carlson. Am in the process of recapping the HV section. There are 2 black beauty caps that I cannot read. The paint is worn or fell off. Can any body tell me the values of the 2 caps. It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Polaraman, remember me from that other TV board?

Can't offer any help on the caps, but here's a shameless plug for my ebay auction!!!

I tried to locate the capacitors you're trying to identify, from the photo in the Sams, but the picture wasn't detailed enough to be exact.

If you could describe the location and connection points of the caps, I'll be glad to look again.

Mike.

#1 Cap is hooked off terminal # 4 off the flyback and goes through the cap in question to a green wire that hooks into 6AU6 TUBE.

#2 Cap is hooked to the ground via a 27 ohm resistor (red, violet, black) hooked to a black wire that goes to 6AL5. The other end is through a .047 cap to terminal number 3 on the flyback.

I hope this helps. Hate to buy a Sams just for 2 caps.

Here's what the Sams shows:

cap #1 - (C87) .001mfd 1000v

cap #2 - (C88) .047mfd 1000v

I have one of these sets (console version), have you noticed if the material that makes the mask behind the curved safety glass is reversible? I seem to remember them being designed to change the look of the tv with different masks.

Thank you for the help. I will soon have this set back up and running. Have been watching it with al the old caps in place. Worked really great till last week. Had sound but the picture was gone. Checked the HV and a few caps were bad.
