Sonara RMR-219 radio phono.

I have an old Sonara console radio-phono I got last year. It is model# RMR-219. I think it is from the late 40s. The phono is 78 only. The cabinet is in good shape needing mainly a refinish. It has a 12-15 inch Jensen Anico speaker. The bad news is almost every capacitor needs replaced. I counted 19 paper,8 of those flat ones that look like dominoes and 3 electrolitics. Are the dominos paper or mica? If they need replaced that will be 30 caps to replace. That will be expensive. I am not sure I want to spend that much on it. Is it a worthwhile radio to restore?

Well, if you like it, it's worth it... the tubular caps might be $15, the electrolytics maybe $10, the dominoes (mica) are probably OK. So f you can fix it for the price of a dinner out. Schematic is online at nostalgiaair.org, and also at http://techpreservation.dyndns.org/schematics/
