You might want to start by cleaning the tuner. It could be as simple as dirty contacts. When you change channels do you see any flashing on screen or hear any static in the sound? If the tuner checks out, you should then move to the I.F. stages and then the video detector/output stages. At this point, I would suspect loss of signal somewhere.

The picture flashes and there is noise on the screen when the channel changes. I'll start with the tuner. thanks.
