From what I can recall and going by what I've seen, I now recall that my grandmother owned a floor model from 1957, with a ratcheting VHF slider at the upper right of the screen, having a tiny channel window in the center, and a UHF thumbwheel on the left. Impossible to read the channels; I wonder if a bulb had blown years before. She left it in her apartment when she moved in the early 70's because it didn't work anymore. Nuts!

EDIT: Here's a pic of the basic unit. My grandma's was a full floor model that had a speaker with grille cloth and a lightning bolt "S". The VHF ratchet is at the upper left.
