RCA (auxiliary speakers) VICTOR XFK21W
Hi all,
I hope it's OK to inquire about these vintage Speakers in this section.
This past weekend (7/21/07) I bought a "lot" of five/six pairs speakers.
The pair that has just BLOWN ME AWAY are an old pair of RCA VICTOR
Speakers XFK21W. These speakers measure 19"L x 11.5"D x 10"H and are 8 Ohms.
The Cabinets and Grill clothes are in quite good condition considering their age
(which I THINK is late 1940's) ? A number printed on the back panel of the Speakers reads 1471049. Might the #47 or #49 be the year ? Each speaker has a 8 inch Woofer and two Tweeters (one atop the other). I would think these speakers are some sort of
OPEN BAFFLE type of design judging from the rear panel which has multi lil' holes.
I removed the rear panel and clean/dusted the inside of the Cabinets. I also took pixs of the drivers. After the cleaning (and Oiling of the Cabinets) I hooked the RCA up to my FISHER 400 Tube receiver and WOW! I never would of believed that such a simple speaker design could sound so darn EXCELLENT! Since Saturday, I have been playing Classic Jazz, Classical Guitar etc. on these RCA's and they just simply sound WONDERFUL!
Might anybody have any insight about these old RCA's ?
I am KEEPING these speaker for sure!
Regards,
SixCats! aka Tom Patrick
