Yeah, it DO kinda look like some kind of gummint issue thingamabob...But I'd latch onto it in a heartbeat. Gov't/Mil-spec stuff is generally built to a higher level than consumer grade stuff is. A guy on the R-390A list left his on 24/7 for YEARS, turning it off only once a year to check the tubes...it ran for 3,4 years before one of the tubes needed to be replaced. Still worked, just wasn't optimal any longer.
