I think you guys are totally correct on this tv being government issue of some sort. The case is plywood, with a flat finish. Before I cleaned it up I thought it was a real dark brown. That was years of grime. It is a flat black and nicks and things go away with a black magic marker. It nows displays and works very well. Sure does remind me of something like we used in school back in the early to mid 60's. I still need to get it recapped and I will go thru the tubes and see health of those. I suspect something in the vertical section of having a tube on the fringe.
