I'm not sure on the timeline, but it seems to me some Ed Sullivan would be perfect. You know, Topo Gigio, the guys spinning the plates on the sticks, the animal acts, etc, the whole shebang!
Like in "Bye-bye, Birdie" when Paul Lynde sings "Ed Sullll-i-vannnnnnnnn" with the choir.
