My Nordmende has an interesting story too. I got it in Oakland way back in 1990 from a nice old widow who was a customer of Coit at the time and I was her "personal" cleaner for a while..
The lady that gave it to me said (among a few other choice phrases best left off this forum) that she had no living relatives left that would appreciate the thing so she gave it to me. She's probably long gone now but that old tuber still fires up and plays.
It sits proudly atop one of the LaScalas, right next to the modern Denon HT stuff and across the room from the Rotel stuff. My living room is quite the mix of odd gear indeed.
