The photo doesn't show much sparkle, but trust me, it's there. If you're lucky, maybe you won't have to go to such lengths. There may be a shiny reproduction cloth that looks acceptable, even if not perfect.
If you have to replace some veneer, or do any serious cabinet refinishing, note that these cabinets were originally finished in lacquer, using brown colored lacquer ("toner") for coloring if needed, rather than stain.
Anyway, when you get to that stage, let us know what you're dealing with. There is a lot of online information about cabinet restoration.
