Just to confirm, I looked at my 50-T1403 and the focus unit wires [PM with a coil] are connected green to red and red to brown.
Try to find a copy of the 1950 Philco Yearbook which contains full information for all the 50-T sets. There are several pages of factory updates which will greatly improve the performance and reliability of these sets.
