Man I would love to have a set like that! I do have a Sparton from the early fifties that I love but it has the more rectangular style CRT common to fifties sets. In the early eighties a middle aged man used my set as his main set and finally got an upgrade which allowed him to bring the Sparton to his weekend business at the local flea market. There he kept it playing all day every Sat and Sun. In those days sets like these were just, well, old or even junk so nobody paid any attention to the hard working Sparton. I for some spooky, unknown reason have always been very intrigued by early electronics, especially television sets. I found my teenage self coming around his table just to watch the thing or ask questions about it. Eventually around $15 parted him from the set and I have had it ever since. It has always worked with no repair. I pulled the chassis once for a cleaning and thats it. The company really made a good product. It seems like it has the dual high and low voltage rectifiers which I have only seen in higher end makes like Dumont, Capehart ect...Anyway I wish someone near Va had one of these. I would give them half my collection for one good tabletop, double d, Sparton. I have often thought of scaleing down the clutter and maintaining just one or two masterpieces. So far I have not come across any double d roundie locally except a huge Dumont RA-109A a long time ago. I have an RCA 8T-243 with a 10BP4A but it has a rectangular crt border. Just kills it for me for some reason...............
