Well, I finally got a chance to test out the set.
I brought it up on the varaic last night, with the 6BQ6 removed.
Today I put it back together and turned it on.
I got great sound, but that was it.
I think it is a problem with the flyback, since there was no noise from the cage.
On the good side, there were no bad smells, no magic smoke released, and nothing blew up in my face.
I'll look more into it tonight, any ideas?
I was going to put the set on eBay anyway, since Hallicrafters sets seems kind of desirable, I wanted to test it before I let it go, and if it was promising, I might keep it and restore it.
