Before condeming the flyback, check that the various windings are really ok or not. You'll probbably need a schematic for this.

Just look for continuity now.

Make sure the deflection yoke's good too - or you won't get anything.

Carefully check your voltages around the horz section. I'm betting you have a problem somewhere in there - of all the sets I've bumped into, only one had a bad flyback. There's lots else that'll keep the horz section from 'booting' besides a bad flyback.
