I appreciate all the advice!

I'm going to have to be careful here, because I started this thread before I knew that it might be a problem for my wife.

Without getting too personal, it seems that my wife's family had a very similar-looking TeeVee when she was growing up on Long Island - it caught fire and burned their house down. Her dad passed away a few years later of related causes. She has an aversion to old TeeVee sets for that reason - I didn't know that until the other day (I mean about the aversion). It makes perfect sense, and of course I'll respect her wishes, but unfortunately, I found out after I started the thread here.

She says she'd be fine if I gutted the set and put a modern TeeVee inside the case - but I'm guessing that would be a Bad Thing, eh?

So, I'll make the offer again - the next time I'm in Raleigh (should be this coming weekend), I'll see if the dude is there again, and if so, if he has the TeeVee. If anyone is interested in it, I'll try to pick it up and we'll work out how I would get it to you. But I'm guessing it is really not for me at this point.

Sorry for all the hassle!

Best,

Wiggy
