I'm not so sure the finish can be salvaged. The top, especially, is in an extremely rough state. I'm leaning more and more towards sanding and restaining. Biggest issue... is that there are areas where the veneer has come up or is missing or is damaged, and I'm not sure how to replace/repair such things.
