I think adjusting the horiz efficiency for proper horizontal lineage will get the cathode current right-some service material I've read has hinted at that. But I would want to double check it. Shouldn't be too tough to find a meter? My Radio Shlock digital multimeter will do it, though nowadays I use an old Simpson that a retired Sears repairman gave me. Analog is a lot better than digital here, too.
Going tommorrow to meet with a gentleman who advertised some test equipment in the paper. Should be interesting-not the equipment, but just talking to him. He mentioned being a retired missile designer. Got his start as a kid tinkering with radios.
The election night thread got locked before I could chime in to say that my CTC-15 worked great that night; I used the digital converter and it's starting to grow on me-signal strength is improving, for one. Yours truly is a "political operative" (hold on, I'm not going there!) and while making annoying phone calls to people last week I struck up a conversation with a kindly old man in my town. After a minute or two I figured out he was the guy with all the ham towers in the backyard. Before the conversation was over I had promised to visit him soon-need to do that in the next week. Sounds like a very interesting guy. Can't wait to see his shack. Sounded pretty lonely, his wife has dimensia and he is her caretaker. Guys, make those contacts while you can. I know I'll be glad I visited both of these fellas.
I think my wife bought a factory refurbished Roomba at Big Lots today, one that is marked "battery won't hold charge" and was priced at $49. If she did, guess I'll try rebuilding the battery pack with off-the-shelf nicads. Can get, on the same order, maybe from mouser, some caps to fix up my CTC-5 horizontal problem.
That's about all that's going on here and now. Need to get back to work!
