The oscilloscope screen is a waveform monitor. It displays the video signal as a trace, for adjustment of video levels, pedestal, and observation of sync signals. Waveform monitors are still in use in television stations to this day. RCA sold this unit as a "Master Monitor", to incude the video monitor and waveform in one unit.
