I got Rustoleum paint off my '53 Dodge truck this way many years ago. It removed the spray paint and left the factory finish.

Yes, this works too, just be careful not to get it on your skin. It will burn you 'till you bleed, literally. I had it happen once cleaning the oven, I brushed up against it with my stomach and got some on my shirt. Blood started oozing from the chemical burn.
