If you don't want to hose it down with water, you could try rubbing alcohol and a soft toothbrush. I put some alcohol in a spray bottle and stand the chassis on its side on a newspaper, working from the top down. The alcohol evaporates without leaving a residue, and you can just let it air-dry.
I'd avoid the dishwasher, as already mentioned.
