Those Arvins were something and have good sound for what they are. Notice it has separate tuning dials for FM and AM. There was an optional companion unit that looked just like this radio but was an amplifier and speaker only, having I believe, only volume and tone controls. You plugged it into the radio via a cable with the units separated. In those days (late '50's early '60's) before multiplex, some stations were broadcasting stereo with one channel on AM and the other on FM, thus the radio was able to tune the bands separately. This configuration was only used sporadically for a few years and then multiplex came along, and this radio's special raison d'être has generally been forgotten.
