Welcome to AK Stuart! That's a nice set, I almost bid on it.  They also make a aquadag coating that you can paint on with a brush. I wouldn't use the graphite. Maybe you can contact Scotty at Hawkeye picture tube rebuilding, he might sell you a can but I can't promise.
