If you have never worked on a tube type battery radio before, you will find several
interesting features: there is no power supply hum at all, and also the tubes heat
up to full operating temperature in less than a second (and the cathodes do not
emit any visible light). This is not a very hot shortwave receiver, but with a
good antenna you can hear several interesting things.

Take your time to study the schematic, ask questions if you are not sure.
And be careful with that B battery supply, it can shock you even at only 90 volts!
