Personally, I'd just remove the CRT - nothing to be afraid of, just be careful with it. Actually, I'm suprised that you recapped the whole set without removing it... Any time I rebuild a set where the CRT is mounted to the main chassis, I remove it and put it aside. It makes it much easier to flip the chassis around and you don't have to worry about damaging the heavy picture tube.
