When adjusting the 21MC trap, where the sound comes off, it didn't seem right that I had to have it turned all the way one way. I just noticed that the leads to the cap siting across it were shorting a few of the turns. I pulled the cap away and it made a big difference. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the original source of my troubles with this set.
