Recording studios have several sets of speakers. Good ones so the engineers and artists can hear the quality of the recording. And even a set of crappy typical consumer speakers so they can test the final recording mix to be sure that the album will still sound good on bad equipment. Guess you could call that crappy set of speakers a studio "standard". A standard of badness...
