I've been experimenting with this technique for the last year or so. I have a Philco 15DX and RCA 630TS that have flaking, aligatored finished. I
really want to avoid refinishing them, but I need to do something. So I've been slowing sanding, touching up and clear coating them with lacquer. You can still see the old patina and flaws, but now they're protected - just like your radio
