I work for an electronics recycler. We get hundreds of flat tvs, LCDs, Plasmas, and DLPs. Some are store returns, or recalls. Sometimes we get new stuff that was damaged in shipping. My boss gave me a pair of twin 23" Vizio LED LCDs that I use as my monitor set at home. The front glass was broken in shipping, but they are brand new. I took them apart and took a heat gun and removed all of the broken glass and adhesive from the bezel. They work just fine. I made a custom dual-monitor stand out of some scrap metal.
The gloss finish is kind of annoying at certain times of the day because I get glare from the window behind me, but that's my only gripe.
I do miss my 19" NEC Flat CRT. I Paid like $400 for it back in the day. I still keep it around, as I know these LCDs will die sooner than later. At least I have a stockpile of parts for them at work, lol.
PS- PioneerGuy, I get that model of Magnavox TV in at the shop quite frequently (if that's the 15", I can't quite tell). It does have a terrible picture, so don't judge all LCDs by that one. And if one day the picture goes out but the sound keeps playing, that TV is prone to CCFL backlight failures. Not so much the inverter (though I have seen it), it's usually the CCFL tube itself burns out.
